6th YCC Workshop on Comparative Business and Financial Law: Call for Papers

The Younger Comparativists Committee (YCC) of the American Society of Comparative Law (ASCL) is pleased to invite submissions for its Sixth Workshop on Comparative Business and Financial Law, which will be held on May 9-10, 2025, at the National Taiwan University College of Law in Taipei, Taiwan. The workshop aims to highlight, develop, and promote the scholarship of new and younger comparativists in accounting, banking, bankruptcy, corporations, commercial law, economics, finance, and securities.

National Taiwan University College of Law (“NTU Law”) is located in Taipei, Taiwan, and is conveniently served by two airports: Taipei Songshan Airport (within downtown Taipei City) and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (with convenient public transportation or a 50-minute drive, to downtown Taipei City).

Up to twelve papers will be chosen from those submitted for presentation at the workshop pursuant to this Call for Papers. The workshop audience will include invited young scholars, faculty from the NTU Law and other law schools in the region, and invited guests.

Submissions will only be accepted from scholars who have held a full-time academic appointment for no more than ten years as of June 30, 2025.

Submission Instructions:
To submit an entry, scholars should email an attachment in Microsoft Word or PDF containing an abstract of no more than 1,000 words by 11:00 P.M. EST, February 28, 2025, to the following address: alexypyang@ntu.edu.tw. Please title the email “YCC Business Law Workshop-[Name]” and attach a file named “FirstName.LastName.ASCLworkshop.”

Abstracts should reflect original research that will not yet have been published, though it may have been accepted for publication by the time of the workshop. Abstracts should include a cover page with the author’s name, title of the paper, institutional affiliation, contact information, and the author’s certification that she/he qualifies as a younger scholar, as defined above.

Scholars may make only one submission. Both individual and co-authored submissions will be accepted. For co-authored submissions, at least one author must qualify as an eligible younger comparativist.

Notification:
Invitees will be selected via a blind review by the workshop program committee. Authors of the submissions selected for the workshop will be notified no later than March 15, 2025. Final papers for the workshop will be due no later than April 25, 2025.

The workshop will be held in person. There is no cost to register for the workshop, but participants are responsible for securing their funding for travel, lodging, and other incidental expenses.
