Announcing the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award and the Prize Winners

We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award, Yntema Prize, and the inaugural ASCL Book Prize.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to Mathias Reimann, Hessel E. Yntema Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School, in recognition of his distinguished contributions to the field of comparative law.
Yntema Prize
The Yntema Prize is awarded to Roy Gillis for his article, “Federalism and Vertical Tax Competition,” published in the American Journal of Comparative Law, 73(1) (2025).
Inaugural ASCL Book Prize
The inaugural ASCL Book Prize is awarded to James Q. Whitman for his book, From Masters of Slaves to Lords of Lands: The Transformation of Ownership in the Western World.
An Honorable Mention is awarded to Melissa Crouch for her book, The Palimpsest Constitution: The Social Life of Constitutions in Myanmar.
We congratulate all the award recipients and thank them for their outstanding contributions to comparative law scholarship.
