Editorial Fellow

The American Society of Comparative Law seeks applicants for the position of Editorial Fellow. The Society is the leading U.S. organization promoting the study of comparative law, with a membership comprising institutions and individuals both in the United States and abroad. It publishes the American Journal of Comparative Law, a leading peer-reviewed journal featuring articles authored by scholars representing all regions and legal cultures of the world.
The Editorial Fellow will work in collaboration with Society leadership and the Editors-in-Chief of the American Journal of Comparative Law. The Editorial Fellow will perform work as needed, for an average of 5-6 hours per week, and will receive an annual stipend of $5,000. The stipend will be paid in three equal installments.
The Fellowship provides an opportunity to participate in the publication and promotion of new comparative law scholarship and to interact with leading scholars in the field of comparative law. It may therefore be of interest to post-graduate researchers and scholars who contemplate careers in academia. The Fellowship is for a period of two years.
Typical duties:
- Writing copy for the Society’s newsletter, including summaries of recently published scholarship in the field of comparative law; reports of conferences and other events; and summaries of developments in the field of comparative law
- Writing blog posts and developing other content for the Society’s website
- Occasional editing and/or proofreading of manuscripts for publication in the American Journal of Comparative Law, with attention to grammar and style
Skills:
Excellent writing skills
Native (preferred) or fluent English
Proficiency with WordPress (preferred but not required)
Requirements:
Law degree
Demonstrated interest in the field of comparative law
